Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel sets the record straight on how New England views Will Campbell

There has been a lot of discussion about whether LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell is truly a tackle or a guard.
And much of that has to do with his arm length.
At the NFL Combine, Campbell's arms measured at 32 5/8 inches, which is just a bit shorter than the 33 inches that the NFL typically wants tackles to be at. But, when he was measured by NFL scouts at LSU’s pro day, Campbell’s arm length was 33 inches.
So, if the Patriots were to draft him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, do they see him as a solution at tackle?
"Yeah, I mean I think you have to," Vrabel said at the NFL Annual League Meetings. "I don't understand how you can watch him play in the SEC, which is the best conference in college football, against guys who are going to get drafted at that position. So, I don't think you have to project. You can just actually watch and say there's his snaps at left tackle and evaluate. See what you think."
Campbell had similar sentiments about his play when asked at LSU Pro Day.
“For two years, nobody had any measurements on me and nobody said anything about my play,” Campbell told reporters. “So now, all of a sudden, arm length decides if I’m a good player or not? I think it’s B.S. Any decision makers in the NFL, they don’t really care. It’s all people who don’t coach, and they don’t coach for a reason.”
What are the Patriots going to do with the No. 4 overall pick?
For a while, it seemed like Colorado cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter was a lock to be in Foxborough this season. The New York Giants were interested in Aaron Rodgers, but the quarterback did not have plans to stay at MetLife Stadium. So, many thought they were going to address that in the draft which would mean taking Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the third overall pick.
But, then the Giants signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, meaning that they no longer have to draft a quarterback simply based on need. That called into question whether they still will take Sanders as their quarterback of the future or if they will go in another direction and possibly land Hunter.
If New York does take Hunter, then the Patriots might turn towards picking Campbell or another tackle in the draft. However, if the Heisman winner is there at No. 4, it seems impossible for New England to pass him up.
Everything Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said at the 2025 Annual NFL League Meetings
“34 minutes. That’ll be the longest we ever go.”
