The Las Vegas Raiders made a trade with the Seattle Seahawks for Geno Smith, the quarterback who has spent most of his career trying to prove he was worthy of being a start. In Seattle, he proved it time and time again.
But, after the trade, some new details were released, and we are still waiting to see and hear what will happen with the whole situation. Geno Smith wants a new contract, and the Raiders want to give him a new contract to make him their quarterback of the future. But, Smith wants $40 million per year, and it feels like the Raiders don't want to give him that, or else the extension would already be done by now.
And, making him the quarterback of the future would make some questions arise within the fan base. First of all, Smith is over 30-years-old and has been in the league since 2013 when he was drafted by the New York Jets in the second round. His career did not get off to a great start with the Jets, though. After the Jets he went to the New York Giants and then the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Seattle Seahawks.
There, he won over the hearts of football fans, as he revitalized his career, and is now a top-15 quarterback in the league.
Technically, he has 11 years of experience at 34 years old, and that's why fans are worried about making him the QB of the future — how much longer does he really have left? That's up there in age.
But, when you really put it all together, he's a very young 34. He doesn't have the wear and tear that others have, as he was a backup for most of his career. He's only started in 83 games in his career and has never really had injury issues or concerns since being a full-time starter in Seattle.
So the big question mark regarding his age doesn't really matter at all. Smith is a young 34, with plenty of juice left, and not a lot of wear and tear on his body.
Geno Smith is already making an impression on the Las Vegas Raiders’ new additions and he hasn’t even played a snap yet
That’s how it’s supposed to be.
