Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers could strike a deal any minute.

But with years of evidence regarding the way Rodgers does things, it could also be weeks if not months, if at all, before he decides to join Pittsburgh.

And that has some people asking why a franchise like the Steelers is playing this game with Rodgers…

Is Aaron Rodgers leading the Steelers by their tail?

"We're the Steelers with all our Super Bowl rings and you're being led by the tail here and you're being told, by Rodgers, T dictate the timeline, and you wait," Schrager said Monday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football. "And I guess both teams [Giants and Steelers] have to go along with that. He is 'star power. In this case, it looks like he might be bigger than the Steelers' brand a little bit, in that they're waiting on him."

From a pure time standpoint, the Steelers do give off the impression that they are sitting on their hands waiting for an answer from Rodgers. NFL free agency began two weeks ago, and outside of a DK Metcalf trade, the Steelers sat by and made some moves on the fringes.

But here's the thing. The NFL Draft is the real deadline. It's not like there is some underground QB market that will suddenly open up and now the Steelers have to decide between Rodgers and some other vet or drafting a rookie all while competing for for his services with others.

No, instead it seems like the only competition the Steelers have is retirement, though the New York Giants can't be ruled out just yet as it pertains to Rodgers' next landing spot.

Outside of Rodgers waiting all the way through training camp to see if a starter on a contender goes down with an injury, his decision is likely between walks on Malibu Beach or throwing touchdowns in the Steelers Black and Gold.

So the idea that the Steelers look foolish as they await Rodgers is just that, foolish. If someone can point out the QB on the market or in their draft range who has a better ability to lead the team to a Super Bowl, I'm all eyes and ears.

But until then, he's the Steelers' best option and frankly, the only option given their goals.
