Monday marked the second week of Ohio State’s spring practices and a day where they hosted a bunch of key recruits.
It was mostly 2027 recruits and beyond on campus in Columbus to begin the week, however there was one 2026 recruit on campus who is currently committed to an SEC program.
The Buckeyes hosted four-star Duluth (Georgia) CB Peyton Dyer on Monday and he has been committed to South Carolina since last November. Dyer is the second-highest-rated commitment for the Gamecocks. Ohio State extended an offer to Dyer back in January when they visited his high school and getting him on campus was key.
Dyer is a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback who is ranked the No. 27 cornerback and No. 328 player in the class of 2026, according to 247 Sports Composite. The talented cornerback holds offers from nearly 30 programs including; Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida.
Ohio State has one cornerback committed so far and that is four-star Watkins Memorial (Ohio) CB Jakob Weatherspoon. The Buckeyes will again take multiple cornerbacks this class after bringing in five-star Devin Sanchez last year. So far for the class of 2026, five-star Mater Dei (Calif.) WR Chris Henry Jr. headlines things and that is not likely to change.
Four-star Archbishop Hoban (Ohio) CB Elbert Hill is a big target for the Buckeyes and someone who’d they love to have in this class. Three-star Panther Creek (Texas) CB Donovan Webb is another name to watch.
Dyer recently took a visit to Georgia and has shown interest in other programs since committing to South Carolina. It will be interesting to see if the Buckeyes push hard for this one following his unofficial visit to Columbus.
Ohio State’s staff changes are leaving an impact on the top recruit in the country who the Buckeyes badly want in Columbus
The staff would love to land him.
