Notre Dame football made an intriguing offer on Tuesday when they extended a scholarship to 2026 Piano (Texas) Dallas HSAA defender Jordan Davis. An underrated member of the 2026 recruiting class, Davis is a safety by trade. The Fighting Irish, however, offered him as a Rover in their 4-2-5 system.
Davis is currently rated as a three-star player by 247Sports. They have him rated as the No. 40 safety and No. 65 player in the state of Texas for the 2026 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite ranking has him rated even lower, currently pegged as the No. 627 overall player, No. 53 safety, and No. 84 player in the state.
Despite that low ranking, Davis is demanding the attention of some impressive programs. Some of his top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Baylor, Washington State, and Vanderbilt among several others. That list promises to continue to expand quickly.
As a junior, Davis put together a sensational season. The 6-2, 195-pound athlete was able to record 69 total tackles, six interceptions, seven pass breakups, seven tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two quarterback hurries. Davis did all of that in just nine games played.
On offense, Davis was also a major weapon. He managed to haul in 50 receptions for 714 yards and 10 touchdowns. Davis is one of those players who is good at pretty much everything you ask him to do.
This is a player that Notre Dame shouldn’t rush things with. He is clearly talented, but seeing how his game continues to develop would be wise. Davis is a homeschooled student athlete, and plays against a lower level of competition in Texas, which makes the evaluation interesting. The Irish staff is exploring several River options in the 2026 class. Davis is worth keeping tabs on if he takes a sizable jump as a senior.
