When you land a recruit in today’s age of college football it doesn’t mean a whole lot until they decide to sign on the dotted line or announce their recruitment is shut down.

Even programs like the Ohio State Buckeyes have to continue to recruit verbal commitments all the way until signing day. Recruits for the most part will still listen to other teams and even take visits.

Ohio State’s biggest flip worry in the class of 2026 is no longer a worry and it comes as a major recruiting win for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

Ohio State five-star WR commit Chris Henry Jr. shuts down his recruitment

Despite teams like Oregon and USC making big pushes for the top-flight receiver at Mater Dei High School, Henry Jr. has decided to officially shut down his recruitment. There was some worry with Henry flipping his commitment to Oregon eventually but that is now over, as his recruitment is shut down.

After numerous visits to USC and Oregon, those schools won’t be landing the five-star wideout and that is a big win for the Buckeyes to keep him away from the other Big Ten programs. According to 247 Sports Composite, Henry is the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 9 player in the class of 2026. He has been committed to Ohio State since the summer of 2023.

Henry having shut his recruitment down can now put the staff at ease and it comes as another big win for Brian Hartline. No one in the country recruits and develops the wide receiver position like Ohio State’s new offensive coordinator and that was the difference in this one.

The official visits to USC, Miami, and Oregon now will not take place this summer and the Buckeyes have to feel good about that. Ohio State has the No. 7 class in the country, per 247 Sports. The Buckeyes are really beginning to heat up on the trail and the latest addition was five-star safety Blaine Bradford.
