In the 2024 recruiting class, Notre Dame was able to land tight end Jack Larsen over finalists Michigan, Clemson, UNC, and NC State. The Fighting Irish did, however, want to add one more tight end in that class. Everyone knew who the other target they wanted was, current Nebraska star Carter Nelson.
Unfortunately the Irish flip big fell short, and Nelson decided to stay in his home state with the Cornhuskers. It was a tough blow for the Irish. Notre Dame is now pursuing another talented tight end from the area in Omaha (Neb.) Millard South standout Isaac Jensen.
Jensen is scheduled to visit Notre Dame for the first time on Friday. Mike Denbrock and the staff have earned a lot of interest from Jensen, but this visit is very important to determine where things go from here.
From a recruiting rankings perspective, Jensen is currently still very underrated. He is considered a three-star recruit by all of the major recruiting platforms that have him rated, sitting as the No. 673 overall player, No. 35 tight end, and No. 4 player in the state of Nebraska according to the 247Sports Composite ranking.
Despite that ranking, Jensen has received attention from several prominent programs in his recruitment. Some of his top offers currently include the Fighting Irish, LSU, Florida State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, and Kansas among others.
As a junior in 2024, Jensen put together a tremendous season for the Millard South squad. In the nine games that he played, Jensen hauled in 36 receptions for 593 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging a stellar 16.5 yards per catch. The 6-6, 225-pound pass catcher is a super smooth athlete who needs obvious physical development moving forward, but the upside is easy to see.
