Another year, another attempt by the New York Jets to win football games.
The team turned the page for the fourth time in the last decade a few weeks ago when it hired Aaron Glenn as head coach and later brought in Darren Mougey to be the general manager. Both are first-timers at their respective positions and they'll try to turn the once-proud organization around.
When looking at the roster, that may take a little while. The Jets have some really good players at key positions, but they certainly have holes to fill. Most notably at quarterback, where Aaron Rodgers is out.
Glenn doesn't see it that way, though. He believes the roster is ready to win now and he admitted Tuesday that he's tired of hearing all the noise about the team's ability to win games after cutting ties with the future Hall of Famer.
"We're confident we're trying to win games. So what that may be, it is what it is," Glenn told reporters at the NFL Combine after he was asked if he's confident the Jets can find a quarterback better than Rodgers in 2025. "The thing is, I don't want to disrespect any of the other players on our team. It kind of pisses me off, and some of the other players, that that's what we all talk about.
"You have Quinnen Williams, you have Quincy Williams, you have AVT (Alijah Vera-Tucker). You have Joe Tippman. All those guys need to be respected as far as winning games, also."
Glenn has a point. There are other key guys at premium positions like Garrett Wilson at wide receiver and Sauce Gardner at cornerback. Let's not forget the Jets actually won more games when Rodgers missed all but four snaps of the 2023 season than when he played 97% of the offensive snaps in 2024.
Either way, it's clear Glenn and Co. want to move on from the disastrous campaign that nuked the last two years in New York. And guess what? Winning football games is the quickest way to get others to move on, themselves.
