The Pittsburgh Steelers typically aim to get on base as opposed to hitting home runs.

It leads to fewer strikeouts but occasionally leaves fans wanting more from the front office.

So when reports surfaced late last week that the Steelers were in discussions for one of the league's highest-paid QBs, the fanbase became frenetic.

Well, said QB let everyone know where he stands…

Trevor Lawrence scoffs at trade report

"My agent texted me and then of course I saw it after he texted me and said, ‘Hey this is a report that’s out there. I don’t think there’s anything to it, but I’ll check into it.’ But I saw it, and it’s funny though, when he sent it to me, I wouldn’t say your heart drops, but you’re kind of like, ‘What? And then I’m thinking about it, I have a no-trade clause in my contract, so I would know about it if I was getting traded or if that was something that was going to happen, said the Jacksonville Jaguars QB on the Up & Adams show…

"…I’d have to be on board with it which I’m not. I’m happy here in Jacksonville. I plan on… We want to win a Super Bowl here, and I think we can do that. And I don’t want to leave Jacksonville. So, I’m happy here. Obviously, I’m not going to Pittsburgh.”

The report seemed sketchy from the start, and it was quickly shot down by both Steelers insiders and national media, as well as a source who told A to Z Sports, "Don't think there is any chance jags trade him."

Lawrence is only 25 years old and is one year into a five-year, $275m contract extension that pays him $55m per year, placing him tied for second in APY, only behind the Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott at $60m APY.

Many would argue that Lawrence has yet to live up to the "generational" label that he garnered as cant miss prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. But a year from He** with Urban Meyer and back-to-back seasons of regression have seemed to cloud his Pro Bowl campaign from 2022.

Not only do QBs of his caliber not grow on trees, but new Jags HC Liam Coen has become known as a QB whisperer around the league given the work he has done with guys like Will Levis at Kentucky and Baker Mayfield during their time together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

So from the man himself, sorry but no Trevor Lawrence to the 412 Steelers fans.
