Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes are taking a huge swing at one of the top players in the 2026 recruiting cycle. And it appears they will get their chance at the plate.
Per On3 Sports, the Canes are one of four schools to receive an official visit from five-star wide receiver Chris Henry, Jr.
Henry, Jr., son of late Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry, is the #6 overall player and #2 WR, and #1 player out of California, per On3 Sports' industry rankings. At 6'5", 195 pounds, he has the size, athleticism, and route running to become a special player quickly.
The hill to climb for Henry, Jr.'s services is a steep one for Cristobal and his staff. Henry, Jr. committed to Ohio State way back in July 2023, and he's been locked in since. The Buckeyes are the defending national champions and have been churning out NFL wide receivers at a high level over the past several years. Henry, Jr. is also reportedly a fan of Brian Hartline, who was recently elevated to offensive coordinator as Chip Kelly's replacement.
Still, it's an encouraging sign that Miami was able to get Henry, Jr. to set up an official visit. Miami has plenty to offer wide receiver recruits right now. Early playing time, competitive NIL offers, and recent success under offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson are some pros in the Canes' column.
Xavier Restrepo, Isaiah Horton, Jacolby George, and Elijah Arroyo all had strong seasons in 2024 in Dawson's system. With the exception of Horton who's heading to Alabama in the portal, all should hear their names called in the upcoming NFL Draft, with Restrepo and Arroyo potential day two picks.
We'll see if Cristobal can make inroads with the talented wideout when he arrives in Coral Gables at the end of May.
