Ohio State’s summer plans with recruits have been coming about lately, as the Buckeyes work on building out the class of 2026 and beginning things in 2027.

The Buckeyes will have one of the country’s best defensive players on campus in June for an official visit.

Ohio State is in the mix for the No. 1 safety, Blaine Bradford, who will also make an official visit to home state LSU. Bradford is a 6-foot-1, 207-pound safety from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Bradford already has an impression of Ohio State and is looking to continue building that relationship. The talented safety is expected to visit Columbus this spring as well for a Buckeyes practice.

“My favorite things about OSU are the culture, the coaches, and how they can guide my future,” Bradford said, via On3.

Safeties coach and pass game coordinator Matt Guerreri is the primary recruiter of Bradford, who holds nearly 30 offers. Texas is another school in the mix that could get an official visit this summer. Notre Dame, Oregon, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia are among the other teams that have offered Bradford.

“Stoutly assembled safety prospect who could potentially move around the defensive back seven. Verified 6-1, 200 with frame space to keep adding mass if off-ball linebacker is a desired long-term home. Flies downhill quick-trigger pursuer vs. the run. Quick in diagnosis. Breaks down and drives through targets as a tackler. Speed-to-power ability and play strength enable playing through a block en route to the ball.” — Gabe Brooks, 247 Sports

The Buckeyes get one more season of Caleb Downs before he will become a top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Lathan Ransom is off to the NFL and the Buckeyes are bringing in a talented freshman Faheem Delane. Making a major push for Bradford a class after landing Delane would be huge for the Buckeyes. That would be some real consistency building back there with recruiting.

LSU has to be the favorite as the in-state team, but the Buckeyes are going to recruit hard and are in the mix with an official visit. Ohio State is going to have their chance to impress the No. 1 safety.
