Welcome to SKOL Search 2025!

This is the fifth year I have done SKOL Search with the sole mission being to find NFL Draft prospects for the Minnesota Vikings. Throughout the entire process, this will be the most comprehensive draft guide with a focus on the Vikings.

Each year, I scout incoming draft prospects from a neutral perspective and try to see how they could fit with Minnesota. This will be general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's fourth NFL Draft and we have a good sense of what he likes in a prospect.

Going into the offseason, the Vikings have just three official selections with a fourth likely coming with a compensatory selection in the third round. However they choose to use them, they need to make the most out of their limited resources.

Cobee Bryant

  • Kansas
  • Height: 5110
  • Weight: 171
  • Class: Fifth-year Senior
  • Recruiting info: 3-star recruit in 2020 class per 247 Sports
  • Stats: 128 tackles (107 solo), 11.0 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, 13 interceptions, 22 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 3 touchdowns
  • Games watched: Oklahoma State 2023, Kansas State 2024, Arizona State 2024, Colorado 2024

Strengths

  • Aggressiveness: If you want a feisty cornerback, look no further than Bryant. He is a constant menace in coverage, staying in the hip pocket consistently and Bryant will punch you in the mouth down the field.
  • Man Coverage: Bryant's length also pays dividends when it comes to playing coverage. He punches well at the line of scrimmage and can stay with you in man coverage.
  • Ball Production: Attacking the football is a part of Bryant's DNA. In 1,405 coverage snaps, Bryant has 13 interceptions and 22 passes batted down. When you stay in the hip pocket like he does, seeing this type of production is a huge factor.
  • Willing Tackler: Bryant might be smaller in frame and stature, but he's more than willing to play the run and will get his nose dirty in doing so.

Weaknesses

  • Frame: We can't ignore the elephant in the room. Bryant is 171 lbs and has a slender frame. While he doesn't play small or light, it will come into play.
  • Tackling: One of the ways that Bryant's frame can cause him issues is when tackling. He does a really good job playing the run, but often arm tackles. Those will get broken at the NFL level.
  • Long Speed: Bryant is a very sticky corner, but he can get taken advantage of deep.

Bryant is a really good player that has some size limitations. One thing that stands out in a major way is how aggressive he is in both man coverage and with the ball in the air. Since he doesn't play small, their isn't as much of an issue with his size.

The Vikings already have a cornerback like this on their roster in Mekhi Blackmon, which tells you one of two things:

  • They like cornerbacks of this type
  • They don't want a room of cornerbacks that are small

If the Vikings select Bryant, it will be a signal that they want to shift to playing more man coverage. It's a necessary change they need to make in order to take the next step.
