The Tennessee Titans are in the market for a QB. Whether that's through the draft, in free agency, via trade, or some combination of their options is yet to be seen.

The one thing that we do know is that the way they conduct themselves at QB between now and late April will provide clarity on their plans for the future. And whether they take a rookie QB or not, it would still be wise for them to land a viable veteran option as well.

This is something Titans brass is aiming to do. They see any rookie QB in this class as your classic "sit candidates". Both Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward would be best served learning from the sidelines for some, if not all of their rookie year.

Unfortunately for them, the options in free agency are slim. Sam Darnold is the belle of that ball, but his value at the price he'll demand is a serious question. Not to mention the possibility he never leaves Minnesota in the first place. After him, the free agent roll is comprised of the likes of Justin Fields and Jameis Winston.

That's why a potential trade for a veteran QB doesn't seem out of the question. And the top two names in that department are Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford. Both remain under contract with their respective teams, but both could be moving on for different reasons.

In Stafford's case, everything on paper was set up early in the year for both he and the Los Angeles Rams to part ways after 2024. His contract situation was left intentionally in flux, and the team-building decisions that were made around him reflected a team that was keeping their options open. After a strong finish to the year and a win in the playoffs, however, many considered this a done deal. Stafford would surely return to LA, right?

His wife Kelly Stafford didn't sound so sure on her podcast this week.

"I love the life that we have built here. With that being said, I love an adventure. I am all for it right now. If, you know, the Rams decided that they wanted to trade him or Matthew decided he didn't want to play for the Rams, I'm good. Move my family. Yeah. That might be tough. First month is hard. Okay. After that, I like my kids to learn how to be resilient and moving them is not easy and it'll be hard. But I also have four girls who have four built in best friends. So it ain't that difficult."

She went on about the importance of being respected and wanted within an organization, and cryptically referenced her husband's desire to actually try to win.

"I will say, I value being respected and wanted over convenience. So it would be very convenient to stay, right? Very easy. But if someone doesn't feel valued, then I'm like, let's go on an adventure. Turns out, like, if I have my husband and my kids, I'm good. I don't need anything else. Again, do we want to be in LA? Yeah. Yeah. But a lot has to happen. My husband wants to win. He's not gonna… he's not trying to put a team in a bad situation. If you're catching my drift, you're catching my drift. He wants to win."

If you're wondering if the recent news of Cooper Kupp's impending trade has anything to do with the Stafford's mindset, you'd be correct. Kelly finished by questioning the Rams plans going forward with their decision to move on from a franchise cornerstone in Kupp and the latest rumblings of trading her husband:

"I think we have a chance against Kansas City one play away. And all of a sudden now in the offseason, you're talking about trading your veteran wide receiver who has been a pillar in this place for eight years since he got drafted and does far more than people know. I'm talking like he's a coach in and of himself too. And there's now talk about trading your quarterback away. It confuses me, but you know what? Again, I'm up for an adventure. Why not? Like who, who's to say I'm not going to fall in love with another city and my kids aren't going to experience how to live in a different place with different people?"

Ultimately, it seems improbably the Rams move on from their franchise QB. But everybody has a price, and if somebody is willing to pay it, we could see Stafford on the move this spring. The Titans would love nothing more than for him to be playing in Nashville next fall.
