"This is a one in a million hand!" – George Costanza on Seinfeld
One of the best things the Kansas City Chiefs' dominance over the NFL has given us is Andy Reid starring in commercials. The man is a natural. And if you give us Seinfeld related content, I'm here for it.
Though no mention or direct reference to the popular sitcom is made in the Super Bowl LIX commercial for Skechers, Reid takes a page out of the George Costanza playbook by (jokingly) revealing his side hustle: Male hand model.
In the ad, Reid is seen using his hands to model everything from jewelry to hand lotion and a delicious-looking slice of pizza.
In the highly popular sitcom Seinfeld, Costanza (portrayed by Jason Alexander) unexpectedly becomes a hand model in the fifth season of the show, to the disbelief of his friends, except for Kramer who naturally describes his hands as "smooth, creamy, delicate, yet masculine."
I'm no hand expert and thus I wouldn't know if Reid reaches Costanza's caliber as a hand model but it sure as heck is hilarious to see the Chiefs head coach have some fun in his real side hustle: Making TV commercials. At least this one won't annoy NFL fans who have grown tired of his "Bundlerooskie!" yells.
In all seriousness, Reid's Chiefs will play in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, seeking to become the first team in NFL history to win three championships in a row. Should Kansas City win, it will be fourth Super Bowl win.
The game will kick off on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on FOX. Who knows who will win but one thing for sure: Reid is giving Matthew McConaughey a run for his money for best actor among this year's commercials.
