The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles have released their inactive player lists for Super Bowl LIX, set to be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, Feb. 9.

I'd take a grievous injury to keep a player out of this game. Guys will tough it out and leave everything on the field, even if they're ailing. With a Lombardi Trophy on the line, both teams looked good on the final injury reports of the week, and that remains true for Sunday's game.

Below is the full list of inactive players for each team. . .

Chiefs inactive players for Super Bowl LIX

  • OL C.J. Hanson
  • OL Ethan Driskell
  • OL Wanya Morris
  • CB Keith Taylor
  • CB Steven Nelson
  • DE Joshua Uche
  • DE Malik Herring

Eagles inactive players for Super Bowl LIX

  • OL Darrian Kinnard
  • WR Ainias Smith
  • CB Eli Ricks
  • DB Lewis Cine
  • G Trevor Keegan
  • QB Tanner McKee
  • DE Bryce Huff

Observations:

There's a striking similarity on these inactive player lists. As expected, Chiefs CB Steven Nelson is INACTIVE for Super Bowl LIX. If you want to know why, you can read all about it here. Nelson played one season with the Eagles. Former Chiefs OL Darrian Kinnard, now with the Eagles, is also INACTIVE for this game. He was part of the Chiefs' 2022 NFL draft class but was released ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Chiefs practice squad LB Swayze Bozeman is ACTIVE for the third consecutive postseason game. He's only played special teams snaps to this point in the postseason.

The Chiefs are sticking with rookie OL Kingsley Suamataia over Wanya Morris as offensive line depth. Morris has been inactive for the last two postseason games, while Suamataia has been active. It certainly raises some questions about Morris' future role with Kansas City.

Joshua Uche, a midseason trade acquisition to Kansas City by way of New England, is inactive. Since his trade, he has played just four games for the Chiefs.

The Eagles opted for DE Bryce Huff as an INACTIVE on Sunday.
