The Jacksonville Jaguars are in good shape with their salary cap and could make a couple of splash free agent signings this offseason.

After ranking 25th in total offense in 2024, they could definitely use some more firepower on offense. That would also help quarterback Trevor Lawrence following a bit of a regression in his fourth NFL season.

Getting Lawrence back on track and establishing him as a top tier QB should be the main priority for Jacksonville after giving him a 5-year, $275 million contract last offseason. The best way to do that is to get him some more weapons, and ESPN's Eric Moody has a move in mind for the Jaguars to make.

"WR Chris Godwin signs with the Jaguars," Moody predicted. "The breakout of WR Jalen McMillan and tight end Cade Otton makes Godwin expendable if the (Tampa Bay) Buccaneers want to improve other areas of the team, especially given his injury history. I could see Godwin joining his former offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, and playing alongside ( WR) Brian Thomas Jr."

Coming off a season-ending dislocated ankle that required surgery back in October, Godwin's price tag could be lower than had he played the entire year. He had an excellent seven games before going down, catching 50 passes for 576 yards and five touchdowns.

The Buccaneers would like to have Godwin back, but appears he'll test the waters of free agency first. Given the way he performed in Coen's offense before getting hurt, he would obviously be a natural fit. Pairing him with rookie sensation Thomas Jr. and getting Christian Kirk back from injury would make for a very good trio at WR.

Godwin has four 1,000-yard seasons over his last six years played. If not for injuries, he likely would have crossed over the mark in the other two years as well. He is an excellent route runner who can find holes in coverage and be a safety blanket for QBs. We'll see what Coen and whoever the Jags hire at general manager have in mind as the free agent legal tampering period begins on March 10.
