NASHVILLE — As we begin the 2025 offseason, no team is in the spotlight more than the Tennessee Titans.

Sitting with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a clear need at quarterback, Tennessee’s decision has other teams waiting with bated breath. There’s so many different directions the Titans could go, mainly because they have so many roster needs.

The Titans are in the market for a new starting quarterback. The right side of the offensive line needs a major facelift, per usual. Premium edge rushers are hard to come by, and the Titans need to upgrade from Harold Landry and Arden Key in 2025.

Those are the primary needs we hear being discussed for Tennessee this offseason. Quarterback, right tackle, and edge rusher. But somehow, wide receiver has seemed to slip through the cracks. The Titans are in dire need of wide receiver help. It’s a roster hole that nobody seems to be talking about.

Current Titans WRs

Tennessee opened 2024 with six wide receivers on the active 53-man roster. DeAndre Hopkins was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs halfway through the season. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Tyler Boyd are both unrestricted free agents. Treylon Burks missed almost the entire season with an injury after failing to contribute out of the gate, and Jha'Quan Jackson was a failure as both a receiver and return man.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Titans receiving corps is Calvin Ridley and a lot of unproven talent/practice squad players.

Undrafted rookie Bryce Oliver improved a lot over the course of his rookie season. He excelled as a gunner late in the year, but his offensive impact is limited at this point. Jackson will likely end up getting cut in training camp if he does not show significant improvement. Burks is not a lock to make the roster either. He has 699 receiving yards and one touchdown in three NFL seasons. Colton Dowell is a former seventh round pick that has not played in an NFL game since 2023.

As things are currently set, Ridley has no help…and neither will whoever ends up being the quarterback of this team.

Free agent WRs

Based on what we have heard from President of Football Operations Chad Brinker and new GM Mike Borgonzi, I don't anticipate seeing the Titans make a play for the big name free agents that are available. Ridley's four-year, $94 million contract gives the new front office even more reason to be cautious. I don't think Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin, or a trade for Deebo Samuel are going to happen.

I could see Tennessee making a play for a second-tier veteran on a short-term contract. Hollywood Brown or Keenan Allen maybe? That's about as big as I could see the Titans swinging. Maybe it's someone like Mack Hollins or Nelson Agholor. Maybe they bring NWI back.

I'm anticipating the Titans to try and add at least two wide receivers over the course of the offseason. With how little support there is at the position, it's a bigger need than just one player can solve. Those 2+ receivers could come in the free agent pool I just mentioned or in the middle rounds of the draft (picks 101, 118, or 141).

Perhaps they sign Keenan Allen, draft Jaylin Noel to play in the slot, and go into the 2025 season with Ridley, Allen, Noel, Oliver, Burks, etc…That looks a lot more like an NFL receiving room than what the Titans currently have.
