The Kansas City Chiefs got obliterated in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22. And as sad as the game was for the Chiefs, there was one lone bright spot. Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver and Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy exploded with some wildly impressive plays as he tallied eight receptions for 157 yards and two scores.

The Chiefs offense couldn't get anything going for essentially the entire first half of the game, but when Patrick Mahomes finally began targeting the young Xavier Worthy good things happened.

Late in the third quarter when the Chiefs were still trying to find their first touchdown Patrick Mahomes rolled to his left, heaved a prayer to the end zone, and Xavier Worthy took a dive for the ball as he hauled in the impressive score.

It may have been in vain, but it was an excellent play nonetheless. And that wasn't the only incredible play Worthy made.

Just like Worthy had begun doing in the back half of the regular season and into the playoffs, Worthy garnered more targets than any other player on the team and managed to catch every single one. Mahomes tried to find Travis Kelce and DeAndre Hopkins throughout the game too, but had much less success doing so. In fact, Mahomes was just 13/24 for just 100 yards when targeting any player besides Worthy.

The final phenomenal play of the game made by the Chiefs came when Mahomes found Worthy deep for a 50-yard touchdown as he split the deep coverage for the amazing reception.

Xavier Worthy's efforts may have been in vain for the Chiefs' Super Bowl hopes, but his performance did offer some hope for what looks like a bright future in Kansas City. For those who thought he was "just speed", he certainly once again silenced those doubters too.

The former Texas Longhorns star should be the focal point of the Chiefs passing attack now for years to come as he's clearly emerged as the "next Tyreek Hill" for Patrick Mahomes. Let's hope he has a few more chances at becoming a Super Bowl hero here in the near future soon as he continues making his alma mater Longhorns proud.
