The San Francisco 49ers were left watching Super Bowl LIX from home on Sunday following a hugely disappointing season in which their NFC title defense fell apart and they finished with a 6-11 record.
Their struggles in 2024 were doubly frustrating for the Niners given they had been a play away from winning Super Bowl LVIII last February. San Francisco will have a huge amount of motivation to return to their best and mount another run at a sixth Lombardi Trophy next season, when Super Bowl 60 will be held at the 49ers' Levi's Stadium home.
The 49ers still have a hugely talented roster, but they also have several issues to address if they are to return to the ranks of the NFC's elite in 2025.
But the oddsmakers clearly have substantial faith in San Francisco's ability to rebound next season.
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, the 49ers are sixth favorites to win Super Bowl 60, San Francisco given odds of +1600 to prevail and finally get over the hump for the first time since the 1994 season.
Understandably following their triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the Eagles are the favorites at +600, with the Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens all +700.
The only other NFC team ahead of the 49ers is the Detroit Lions at +1000.
San Francisco's standing as the third favorite from the NFC may be somewhat surprising following a campaign in which they finished last in the NFC West.
But it is reflective of the star power the 49ers still possess, and the fact that a large factor behind their drop back down to earth in 2024 was a swathe of injuries to key players.
When healthy, the 49ers can be a match for anyone in the NFL. With the 11th overall pick in the draft and the chance to add significantly to their roster in free agency, they should be a substantially better position to justify their position in the odds for the second Levi's Stadium Super Bowl.
