The Kansas City Chiefs will join the rest of the league at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine next week, but they've already met with a handful of prospects at various college All-Star games.

We know they met with Chris "Pooh" Paul Jr. at the East-West Shrine Bowl, and we know that teams meet with virtually every player in attendance at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Some reports have also been about the lesser-known prospects who met with teams at the Hula Bowl, College Gridiron Showcase, and Tropical Bowl.

According to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler, the Chiefs are one of a dozen NFL teams to have met with Utah RB Micah Bernard at the Hula Bowl.

You might be prone to think, "Teams can't find good players at the Hula Bowl." Just three seasons ago, the Chiefs selected Rutgers RB Isiah Pacheco in the seventh round after he attended both the Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl.

Listed at 6 feet and 206 pounds, Bernard finished the 2024 college season, Utah's first in the Big 12 conference, with 197 carries, 1,009 yards, and four rushing touchdowns. He's also known for his receiving ability, notching 30 receptions for 150 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Bernard inexplicably did not receive an invite to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, but he'll be a star at the 2025 Big 12 Pro Day. He reportedly runs a low 4.4 40-yard dash and has jumped a 10-9 broad jump and 38.5-inch vertical.

He's got a little Travis Hunter to his game. Not only is he a special teams ace, but in the 2021-2022 Rose Bowl against Ohio State, Bernard played cornerback after injuries decimated the Utes' defensive secondary. It was his first time ever playing that position, and he had to go up against Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, with C.J. Stroud throwing the rock. That's all in addition to his responsibilities as a running back, where he caught an impressive touchdown reception on a wheel route.

The Chiefs need to refresh their running back room after an injury to Pacheco in 2024 left an aging Kareem Hunt as the top back in Kansas City for most of the season. They need to find a complement to Pacheco in running and passing games. A player like Bernard fits the bill as a late-round pick or priority undrafted free agent signing.
