The big news is that the Packers will finally open their regular season at home after seven years. In fact, the first two games, against the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, will be at Lambeau Field. Then, nine of the final 15 games are going to be on the road.
Interestingly, the Packers will also have two short weeks, ahead of Thursday games in Week 2 and on Thanksgiving in Week 13.

Biggest Games on the Packers' 2025 Schedule
Packers vs. Lions: The Detroit Lions won the NFC North in each of the last two years, and the Packers won only one of the last four games against them. For Green Bay, it's imperative to show they can win against top competition inside its own division to claim the team can really be a Super Bowl contender. Especially playing at Lambeau Field in Week 1 for the first time since 2018.
Packers vs. Bears: Ben Johnson acted with a lot of confidence in his first press conference as a Bears head coach, saying he enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year. Well, it's time to prove himself on the job. For LaFleur, it will be an opportunity to respond on the field, and the Packers to show they are still dominant in the rivalry.
Packers at Steelers: If the Steelers actually sign Aaron Rodgers, this will be a special moment. In Rodgers' two years with the New York Jets, he didn't have a chance to play against his old team. It would be more beautiful and meaningful it this game was at Lambeau Field, but the reencounter per se is already impactful for both sides. And it might be the only chance for it to happen.
Packers vs. Eagles: If the Lions are incumbent NFC North champions, there is a bigger enemy on the road. The Philadelphia Eagles had underwhelming talent last year and beat the Packers twice on their path to a second Super Bowl title in franchise history. If the Packers show they can beat the Eagles, they have the talent to beat anyone.
Packers at Vikings: Last season, Green Bay lost their final two regular season games to divisional rivals. It's important to play its best football down the stretch, so a signature win in Minnesota would be huge.
Primetime matchups with viewing/streaming info
Which games will be primetime viewing and which ones will be streamed?
The Packers have a total of four primetime games in 2025:
- Week 2, vs. Commanders (Thursday Night Football)
- Week 4, at Cowboys (Sunday Night Football)
- Week 8, at Steelers (Sunday Night Football)
- Week 10, vs. Eagles (Monday Night Football)
There's also a standalone, but not primetime game:
- Week 13, at Lions (Thanksgiving)
- Week 16, at Bears (Saturday)
Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2024 record)
Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis does this cool thing every year where he ranks teams' strength of schedule based off Vegas' projected win totals for the upcoming season. He doesn't base it off the standard last-year's-record model and it makes a lot more sense, because of all the change teams go through during the offseason.
Sharp has the Packers' SOS as the 10th hardest. The NFC North has one of the toughest strength of schedules, so Green Bay will still have the easiest projected schedule of 2025 in their own division.

Revenge Games on the Packers' 2025 schedule
- Basically every divisional game: The Packers had a historically bad division record last season, only winning one of the six games—the first one against the Chicago Bears. They still managed to make the playoffs, but it's unrealistic to expect the same outcome repeating itself. If they want to be in the postseason, the Packers need to be better against their own rivals.
- Philadelphia Eagles: The Packers opened and closed their 2024 season with losses to the Philadelphia Eagles. First, in Brazil. Later, in Philly. Even though divisional games have a particular feeling, beating the Eagles would be meaningful for this version of the roster. On a Monday Night Football, the game only becomes bigger.
- Denver Broncos: Sean Payton has a 2-1 record against Matt LaFleur, including wins in each of the past two games—with the Saints in 2021, and with the Broncos in 2023. For LaFleur, going back to beat one of the premier offensive minds in football would be rewarding.
5 Must-watch Matchups
- Matt LaFleur vs. Ben Johnson: Ben Johnson was a great offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. It's time to see if he can be a good head coach for the Chicago Bears, or if the Peter Principle will attack. Curiously enough, they will face off twice in a three-week span.
- Defensive front vs. JJ McCarthy: After years of being good against great quarterbacks and bad against the awful ones with Joe Barry, the Packers are living a more normal life with Jeff Hafley. And facing what essentially is a rookie quarterback might be a big opportunity for disruption upfront. If McCarthy is good from the get go, it's probably an indication of future problems for the NFC North.
- Jeff Hafley vs. Lamar Jackson: Lamar Jackson has never faced the Packers—he was hurt when the teams played back in 2021. He brings a tough element to stop, which is the combination of accurate passing game and electric run style. It will be a tough task for Hafley, especially because last year the Packers prioritized setting the edge against running quarterbacks and failed to generate pressure.
- Jordan Love vs. Jayden Daniels: There's a good argument that Love and Daniels are the two most talented young quarterbacks in the NFC, and this could be the game to prove themselves against each other on a big stage.
- Jaire Alexander vs. Justin Jefferson (hopefully): We don't know if Jaire Alexander will be on the Packers roster when the regular season starts, but things are trending in that direction. And watching him cover Justin Jefferson has always been extremely fan for football fans in general.
