Tyleik Williams did not participate on the first day of Lions rookie mini-camp, and it has nothing to do with the video from his Pro Day

The Detroit Lions opened up rookie mini-camp on Friday, and we got to see a bunch of things. All the rookies with their new numbers, veteran tryouts including the big one with Trevis Gipson, and four the Lions own players joining in for a refresher.
One thing we did not see is the Lions' first-round pick Tyleik Williams participating in some of the drills run by the rest of Detroit's rookie class.
Williams worked off to the side with trainers, and it's because the Lions have him on a special program, per Williams.
"It's just a plan they got me going on right now. It's a long season I just came off of. Just being smart." Williams said. "I had a little fall, but I'm all healed from that. Just being smart. I just came off a long season."
The fall that Williams is referring to was from his Pro-Day when he took a bad and awkward fall while running his 40-yard dash.
It looks really bad, but like Williams said, he's all healed from that.
He did just go through quite a long season, like he said, but to really lay that out. Ohio State reported to training camp on August 1st. They then played all the way into the National Championship game in late January, and then he went right from there to the Shrine Bowl and from that to the Combine and from that to Pro day. This guy has been non-stop for almost a year now. Some of the other players at least got a short break after bowl season.
We'll see how far this plan with Williams sitting out goes. The Lions have OTAs around the corner and will be skipping Mandatory mini-camp this year. The plan is likely to have him be full go at the start of camp, like everyone else.
Assistant general manager Ray Agnew on where the Lions want to see improvement in new edge rusher Ahemed Hassanein
There was no Lions' draft pick that was more exciting in the moment than Ahmed Hassanein. From telling Dan Campbell that he would die for him to getting engaged moments after the announcement on TV, this guy was exciting. Plus, his story to get to this point is probably going to be a Disney movie […]
