FOXBOROUGH, Mass – In the most shocking development of the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders remains on the board after the conclusion of the first three rounds.

And New England Patriots executive vice president of football operations Eliot Wolf was among the large group of people who couldn't believe it.

"It's surprising," he told reporters on Friday night. "We evaluated him. I had the opportunity to watch him play against Oklahoma State this year, and they killed Oklahoma State, so it maybe wasn't the best game to look at.

"But it was interesting to see that he's still available, and I'm sure there's going to be a fit for him here tomorrow."

After being thought of as the one of the top two quarterbacks in the class and having the possibility to go No. 2 or No. 3 overall, Sanders has waited to hear his name called, while five other quarterbacks have all found their new homes.

It was the worst kept secret that Cam Ward was going to be picked by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick. But, the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants were other quarterback-needy teams heading into the draft, especially when looking at the roster long-term. But, they opted to take Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter along with Penn State edge Abdul Carter in the first round.

But, why not take Sanders later since he was still available?

Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart was the next one off the board, going to the Giants. Then it was Louisville QB Tyler Shough to the New Oreleans Saints, followed by Alabama QB Jalen Milroe to the Seattle Seahawks. When the Browns were on the clock again in the third round, they decided to go with Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel.

Meanwhile, Sanders remains without a team as rounds four through seven are set to start on Saturday.

We'll see what happens on Day 3.
