The Broncos made seven selections during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Not everyone is going to agree with every pick that Denver made, however it's safe to say most agree that first-round pick Jahdae Barron was a home run. Although a cornerback wasn't their most pressing roster need, the Broncos couldn't pass on a talent like Barron.

In 57 career games with the Texas Longhorns, Barron recorded 226 total tackles, 24 passes defensed, five interceptions, three forced fumbles, two sacks, and one touchdown. Barron brings versatility to the table, able to play in the slot, on the outside, and even at safety.

ESPN's Jordan Reid and Matt Miller raved about Denver picking Barron, and Reid believes that Barron will solidify the Broncos' defense as one of the elite units in the NFL.

"The Broncos' defense was already loaded, and Barron makes it that much better. His ball skills, dependability, awareness and positional versatility will help him become the ultimate player. Barron's instincts and ability to generate turnovers position him to be one of the best rookie defenders in this class." – Jordan Reid

Miller went on to say that Barron has the potential to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2025.

"The Defensive Rookie of the Year generally goes to a pass rusher or a cornerback who racks up stats. Barron had five picks last season at Texas and will be playing opposite Pat Surtain II, the NFL's best corner. He should have plenty of opportunities for the picks that could lead to an award-winning season." – Matt Miller

The Broncos have clearly built their roster to fit an identity of hard-nosed defense. Despite leading the league in sacks last season and forcing the eighth-most turnovers, Denver has continued to bolster its defense with the goal of making it the best in the NFL.

In addition to stars such as Surtain, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, and defensive end Zach Allen, the Broncos added safety Talanoa Hufanga and linebacker Dre Greenlaw during free agency. Now with Barron, along with third-round pick Sai'vion Jones and fourth-round pick Que Robinson, Denver has one of the most talented and deep defenses in the league.
