The 2025 NFL Draft is behind us, and with each rookie having found their new team, awards odds are already out at major sportsbooks. The 2026 NFL Honors won’t be held for another 10 months, but if you want to let Vegas hold onto your money until then for the chance at turning it into a successful investment, you can already do that!

Before I tell you what the initial odds look like, take a moment to guess: who do you think has the best odds?

Did you guess Cam Ward, the Titans 1st overall pick rookie QB who was the clear top choice in the draft? I certainly went into writing this expecting him to lead the pack. But it turns out, he’s a close 2nd behind Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty. Here’s the full list of odds, per DraftKings:

  • RB Ashton Jeanty +230
  • QB Cam Ward +330
  • WR Travis Hunter +1000
  • RB Omarion Hampton +1000
  • WR Tetairoa McMillan +1400
  • RB Quinshon Judkins +1600
  • RB TreVeon Henderson +2000
  • WR Matthew Golden +2200
  • QB Tyler Shough +2200
  • RB RJ Harvey +2200

It’s not particularly shocking to see Jeanty just ahead of Ward at this point. Both players were Heisman finalists in 2024, and Jeanty is widely agreed upon as one of the best running back prospects to ever come out of college. He’s very reasonably expected to hit the ground running in the NFL, and nobody would be shocked to see him win this award.

But as is the case in most facets of the modern NFL, quarterback is king. Everybody knows that the MVP award each year is really the Best Quarterback award. And with the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, it’s not all that different. The basic rule of thumb tends to be that if there was a rookie QB who simply clears the bar of “good” in any given year, he’ll win it.

They’ve been handing out OROY’s since 1967. In 1970, Bills QB Dennis Shaw became the 4th ever recipient and the 1st at his position. Then, believe it or not, there wasn’t another winner at the quarterback position for 34 years! It’s easy to forget how different the modern QB position is as compared to the guys coming out in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Even those who were great out of the gate were overshadowed every single year by mostly running backs with a couple receivers sprinkled in. There were a couple fullbacks too!

But once Ben Roethlisberger won the award in 2004, the flood gates were opened. Since then, 11 of the 21 winners have been QBs. 4 of the past 6 have been passers, including the most recent two recipients: CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels. If Cam Ward were to win in 2025, it would be the first time the award has gone to the same position three years in a row since Sam Bradford, Cam Newton, and Robert Griffin III in 2010-2012.

Needless to say, right now is a very rare opportunity to get the number 1 overall draft pick—who is a quarterback—at these odds. It’s a long time to tie up your money in a bet, but history tells us that it’s a pretty smart one.
