The New York Jets’ official 2025 schedule is here and now, we have the road map to the regular season.
So, naturally, that means it's time to make some way-too-early predictions regarding the entire 17-game schedule. For context starting out, I think all of the results I posted below are under the assumption that the Jets remain relatively healthy. That doesn’t mean players missing games here and there, but in general avoiding any major injuries.
Let's stop wasting time and have some fun predicting the Jets' 2025 schedule
Week 1: Steelers @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Sep. 7, 1 p.m ET
Jets lose 24-14. The NFL knows how to sell a story for week one. Aaron Rodgers (I’m assuming) is going to do something with Pittsburgh that he wasn’t able to do much in New York; win at Metlife Stadium. A Mike Tomlin defense won’t be intimidated by the run game and Justin Fields isn’t good enough to get his revenge on the team that dumped him. I mean, the second team that dumped him.
Week 2: Bills @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Sep. 14, 1 p.m.
Jets lose 23-15. The Jets keep it close with the Bills at home but simply can’t matchup. The Bills put an emphasis on their defense in the draft, using their first five picks on that side of the ball, including two defensive tackles. That’s after they added Joey Bosa and Larry Ogunjobi in free agency. The Jets are not going to be able to run the ball as effectively as they would like, and the Bills offense will simply be too much to handle.
Week 3: Jets @ Bucs – Raymond James Stadium – Sunday, Sep. 21, 1 p.m.
Jets lose 38-21. There is no way the Jets have the horses on the back end to cover the arial attack of the Baker Mayfield led Bucs. This is going to be a fantasy football juggernaut game for Baker and every wide receiver that Sauce isn’t covering.
Week 4: Jets @ Dolphins – Hard Rock Stadium – Monday, Sep. 29, 7:15p.m ET
Jets lose 27-14. The Jets can’t win in Florida. Any team with two good wide receivers is going to be able to pick the Jets apart because of the teams terrible options at the second corner position. The Dolphins got bigger in the middle of their defense in the draft and will look to slow down the Jets’ rush attack.
Week 5: Cowboys @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m.
Jets win 27-21. This won’t be the ugly game the Jets had against the Cowboys last time, when Michah Parson feasted on a terrible Jets offensive line. The Jets get their first win of the year by controlling the line.
Week 6: Broncos @ Jets – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Sunday October 12 9:30am ET
Jets lose 24-13. The Jets return to the scene of the crime where things unraveled last year when head coach Robert Saleh got fired after losing in London to the Minnesota Vikings in front of all of Woody Johnson's UK buddies. Jets won't fare much better this time in the score, but will put up a much better fight.
Week 7: Panthers @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Oct. 19, 1p.m. ET
Jets lose 28-17. Call me crazy, but I am a believer in Bryce Young and I am bigger believer in Dave Canales. The Panthers are going to surprise some people this year as I think they are in year three of a three year rebuild and next season they will be looking at the playoffs. The Jets are in year 14 of a 20 year rebuild and still have a ways to go.
Week 8: Jets @ Bengals – Paycor Stadium – Sunday, Oct. 26, 1p.m. ET
Jets win 35 – 31. This is the Jets big surprise win of the year. I think the Bengals offense is going to put up monster numbers this year and they are going to have to, but the Jets are team that is built to control the clock and the football. The Bengals will be powerless to slow down the Jets rush attack, and one or two mistakes on offense will be enough for the Jets to lean on the Bengals defense to victory.
Week 9: BYE
Week 10: Browns @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Nov. 9, 1 p.m. ET
Jets win 21-17. The Browns have no idea what they are doing at quarterback that they just gathered a bunch of them with different skill sets and are going to see what sticks. The Jets, while I disagree with the direction, at least seem to have one. The Jets will negate the dominant pass rush of the Browns by simply not throwing too much and eek out a win.
Week 11: Jets @ Patriots – Foxboro Stadium – Thursday, Nov. 13, 8:15p.m. ET
Jets lose 17-14. The Jets top choice for head coach this offseason was Mike Vrabel and he shows them why. What better way to show superior coaching than playing on a short week. Simply put, the Patriots have a quarterback who will make the plays when needed, and Mike Vrabel isn’t going to let the Jets run all over them in his first bite of the rivalry as a head coach in Foxboro.
Week 12: Jets @ Ravens – M&T Bank Stadium – Sunday, Nov. 23, 1p.m. ET
Jets lose 42-17. Two teams that want to run the football, only one team has been doing it for years. The Jets learn a valuable lesson in having a running quarterback, and a quarterback who can run. This is one of the few games that get away from the Jets as the Ravens are simply better built.
Week 13: Falcons @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Nov 30, 1 p.m. ET
Jets lose 21-20. I went back and forth on this game, and I think this could be a toss-up. The Falcons put a premium on the pass rush this offseason signing Leonard Floyd and drafting two edge rushers in the first round. But the Jets will negate that by simply running at them. The problem is, I don’t think the Jets will have an answer for Bijan Robinson as a rusher or a receiver. The Jets lose this one in heartbreaking fashion.
Week 14: Dolphins @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Dec.7, 1 p.m. ET
Jets win 24-10. Bold prediction here is that Zach Wilson is starting for the Dolphins by this time at quarterback and the Jets are reminded of his ineptitude again.
Week 15: Jets @ Jaguars – EverBank Stadium – Sunday, Dec. 14, 1 p.m. ET
Jets win 24-21. The Jaguars gave up a lot to get Travis Hunter in the draft and left a big hole in the middle of their defense. That is what the Jets will exploit. We have seen enough to know Trevor Lawrence is who he is and we need to stop talking about his potential. The Jets steal this one on the road.
Week 16: Jets @ Saints – Caesar’s Superdome – Sunday, Dec. 21, 1 p.m. ET
Jets win 21-17. The Saints are in a complete rebuild. I am a fan of Tyler Shough who I believe will win the starting QB job in camp, but the Saints spent too many years pushing their cap problems to the next season that it is finally catching up to them. I expect the Jets to be able to run the ball a lot and control the game.
Week 17: Patriots @ Jets – Metlife Stadium – Sunday, Dec. 28, 1 p.m. ET
Jets lose 24 -20. An ugly game, and assuming the Patriots have something to play for, the eek out their second win against the Jets in six weeks.
Week 18: Jets @ Bills – Highmark Stadium Sunday, Jan. 4
Jets lose 35-20. January in Buffalo with playoff seedings either locked up or on the line leave a lot of question marks in the air. Assuming the Bills need the game and assuming the Jets’ are still playing hard for Glenn I still have the Jets getting sent into the offseason with their butt’s thoroughly kicked.
Final Record: 6-11
Most sportsbooks have the Jets win total at 5.5 so my prediction has them just hitting the over. While I think there is some talent on this team, I think Aaron Glenn has forced a complete rebuild and it will take time for them to get the ship right. I don’t believe that they have a good quarterback on the roster and they aren’t starting the best one they have. Still, I believe they are good enough to surprise some teams.
