Now, Norman Oklahoma is not Oklahoma City, despite what people from the outside may think. You have to drive through a few other smaller towns to get to OKC from Norman. Sure, you can say that Norman is in the metro area, but they are two different towns. But, they do, however, share the same love for basketball in both of their communities.

Basketball is a huge part of the OKC metro area. Yes, the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman are much more known for their football history and the current dominance of their softball program, but the Oklahoma City Thunder are a pretty good team with a pretty good history, and the only professional team in the state.

And, the Sooners have had some good basketball history as well.

Two of the greatest basketball players to ever play for the university are helping out their communities for the sport of basketball, right where they grew up playing the sport that they love.

Sooners legends Blake Griffin and Trae Young start Legynds

Trae Young, one of the best shooters in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, who also played for the Sooners and is from Norman, has paired up with now-retired NBA player Blake Griffin, who is from OKC and played for the Sooners, to help the AAU and EYBL scene in high school basketball.

According to the two of them in a video they put out together, Team Griffin and Team Trae Young will merge to become an Oklahoma-based powerhouse called LEGYNDS basketball club on the EYBL Circuit.

This is greatly going to help grow basketball in the communities they are from, and out the OKC-metro area on the map as a basketball area. These two have a true appreciation of where they are from.
