The Cleveland Browns are entering an offseason that has to be headlined by finding a quarterback. However, the Browns have several things to figure out over the course of the months off coming up.

A 3-14 season for Cleveland in 2024 was a very disappointing one after making the playoffs last season. Cleveland once again lost Deshaun Watson for the season in 2024 and they may not have him back at all in 2025 after he injured his Achilles following the surgery.

Cleveland has a number of ways they have to improve if they want to be a contending team. The Browns could be forced with some tough changes this offseason.

Recently, ESPN’s Benjamin Solak floated the idea that the Browns should make a couple of cornerbacks available. Solak even went as far as making a pair of teams that could offer Cleveland a first-round NFL draft pick for Denzel Ward.

“With no contending future in sight, I expect the Browns to trade players for picks. Both cornerbacks Denzel Ward (who had an excellent season) and Greg Newsome II (who had an uncharacteristically shaky season) should be made available, and one will be dealt. For my money, I expect a young, rising team to put a first-round pick on the table for Ward (Packers? Vikings?) and give the Browns the draft capital they need to aggressively rebuild.” — Benjamin Solak, ESPN

Ward has a long concussion history in his NFL career and it is unclear how much longer he will play. Ward played in his seventh NFL season in 2024 and was very good. However, he has at least seven documented concussions in his football career and that is a big worry.

The Browns took Ward with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and he has played in 95 games since then. Ward has been named to a Pro Bowl four different times, including this season. Ward has had at least two interceptions in each of his seven NFL seasons.

It is unclear if the Browns would actually move Ward, who is still just 27 years old and under contract through the 2028 season. If the Browns were able to get a first-round pick for Ward, they would have to think about taking it with how his career has gone.

Cleveland is going to have some tough decisions to make and it is going to include some players that have been well-liked while with the team. Ward would fall right into that department.
