The New Orleans Saints have made some notable decisions throughout this season. One of the biggest along their roster was dealing away cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
At the time, fans worried about the future of the secondary in New Orleans, and those concerns are still alive entering the offseason.
That being said, Lattimore's play with the Washington Commanders is making the Saints look pretty good as of now.
Lattimore struggles against Evans
In his first opportunity to play his arch nemesis, Lattimore has struggled mightily against the Buccaneers wideout.
In the first half, Evans caught five passes for 66 yards and a touchdown to tie the game. Lattimore was also called for a pass interference penalty in the end zone.
New Orleans made a smart move to move on from the veteran corner before this year's trade deadline. They got a third-round pick, alongside some day three compensation/pick swaps, and that value is lining up nicely for them.
The long-time Saints CB was known for his rivalry with Evans. When it came to production and performance, Lattimore consistently dominated the Bucs WR. It wasn't even a debate during his days in New Orleans.
The two had a fierce, energetic battle twice annually, leading to multiple fines and suspensions over the years when they played in the NFC South together. Now, Evans has grabbed an upper hand since Lattimore joined the Commanders.
Lattimore has missed most of the games since he was traded due to his hamstring injury, and this latest performance against a receiver he used to dominate with the Saints makes New Orleans look especially smart for trading him when they did.
