According to On3, Florida State transfer wide receiver Malik Benson will visit Tennessee and Oregon in the coming days.
Benson, 6-foot-1/195 lbs from Lansing, KS, started his college career at Hutchinson Community College before signing with Alabama. Benson played in 14 games for the Crimson Tide (with six starts) in 2023, catching 13 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown.
The Kansas native transferred to Florida State ahead of the 2024 season. Benson caught 25 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown in what was a trying season for the Seminoles.
Tennessee is in need of wide receivers after losing Kaleb Webb, Chas Nimrod, Nathan Leacock, Nate Spillman, and Squirrel White to the NCAA transfer portal. The Vols are also losing Dont'e Thornton to the NFL.
Benson was teammates with Tennessee tight end Miles Kitselman at Hutchinson Community College in 2021, giving the Vols a unique connection to the coveted transfer wide receiver.
