It wasn’t too long ago that former Clemson wide receiver Troy Stellato was viewed as a potential breakout star for the Tigers after signing in the 2021 recruiting class. Unfortunately, his college career was set back big time while dealing with injuries the first two years of his career, including missing the entirety of the 2022 season with an ACL injury.
In his four years with the team, Stellato managed to haul in 65 receptions for 600 yards and two touchdowns. Nearly all of that production came over the last two seasons, only hauling in two receptions his first two years due to those injuries.
With the rise of freshmen TJ Moore and Bryant Wesco, as well as Antonio Williams more than likely returning in 2025, the wide receiver position was extremely crowded. That led to Stellato opting to enter the Transfer Portal, and see what options were out there.
It appeared that the Michigan Wolverines have become a serious contender for Stellato according to On3 Transfer Portal reporter Pete Nakos. The Wolverines have been busy in the portal so far, and upgrading the wide receiver position has been a point of emphasis. They have already gained a commitment from former Indiana pass catcher Donaven McCulley, but also said goodbye to Tyler Morris.
Stellato was once considered a four-star and top 200 recruit on the 247Sports composite rankings when he came out of Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He opted for the Tigers at the time over other offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Miami, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Penn State, Auburn and Florida State among many others.
