Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Darel Middleton was named this week as the new youth middle school head coach at Knoxville Catholic. 

Earlier this week, former Vols wide receiver Josh Smith was named as the new wide receivers coach at Knoxville Catholic. 

Middleton is a former four-star recruit from Knoxville who spent the first two years of his collegiate career at East Mississippi Community College before transferring to Tennessee in 2020. Middleton spent two seasons at Tennessee (2019 and 2020) before transferring to West Virginia for the 2021 season.

In two seasons at Tennessee, Middleton totaled 43 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks.
