The Tennessee Titans are nearing the end of their GM search this week, wrapping up on Thursday with Buccaneers Assistant GM John Spytek and Packers VP of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan.

Sullivan has been regarded as somewhat of a favorite for the Titans job because of his relationship with Chad Brinker, also a Green Bay man at his core. The two have a history with the Packers, and Brinker’s vision for the Titans going forward appears to closely resemble that model he cut his teeth learning.

Well during a Thursday press conference, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst was asked about Sullivan and gave an eyebrow-raising response:

“He’ll be missed” is a pretty definitive, straightforward answer. That sounds like an employee you’re confident you won’t be seeing around the office again next year.

Sullivan has been connected to all three GM openings this cycle: the Titans, Raiders, and Jets. And while his connection to Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker is a real selling point, it doesn’t mean Sullivan is a lock for the Tennessee opening over the other two.

With Sullivan going last in both rounds of Titans interviews, it wouldn’t be shocking to even see a “don’t let him leave the building” situation in the coming hours. Perhaps the Titans will offer him the job before he ever leaves town. Whatever the case, his old boss seems to have confirmed he’ll be getting one of these jobs eventually.
