Mock draft season is in full swing as 2025 begins. For the New Orleans Saints, they're picking ninth overall and have plenty of picks to improve their roster in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Saints pick three CFP prospects in mock draft

In the most recent collaborative mock draft from A to Z Sports, the Saints took two offensive prospects to start the draft. Then, they added an impressive defensive lineman to their depth chart in round three.

9. New Orleans Saints: Emeka Egbuka, WR Ohio State

The Saints have a sorry wide receiver group outside of Chris Olave and he's missed significant time this year. Emeka Egbuka is a former five star recruit with elite athleticism, early breakout as a sophomore, and strong meaningful metric peak profile. New Orleans finally has some receiver depth after adding this special talent. – Travis May

I'm not sure I'd consider the group "sorry" since Rashid Shaheed has proven to be a valuable player over the past two years, but the consistent lack of availability between those top two wideouts is concerning.

I think Egbuka is one of the safest prospects in this entire class and would be a good fit alongside Olave and Shaheed next season and potentially beyond for New Orleans.

Wide receiver may not be their biggest need, but I understand this pick in their situation with how the mock fell before their selection.

40. New Orleans Saints: Josh Conerly Jr., OT Oregon

The Saints much improve their trenches on both sides of the ball. Josh Conerly Jr. has pedigree, 2000 snaps of experience, and 99% pass block efficiency (per PFF) in his final season. He may continue to rise above this range once NFL Draft season really ramps up. – Travis May

Think this is phenomenal value here. I'm not on board with one of the "top tackles" in the top ten for the Saints because I don't see them as those sort of OL prospects. Instead, waiting until round two or three for the next sector of OL makes more sense.

Conerly fits that bill, and I think he's possibly a first-rounder by the time April rolls around. If he's available here, New Orleans should make the pick immediately.

Taliese Fuaga is a cornerstone at tackle for the Saints, and Trevor Penning made strides this year. That being said, adding depth on the offensive line is a must for the Saints after their injury issues this past season.

71. New Orleans Saints: Alfred Collins, DL Texas

The tackling and run stopping ability of the Saints this year has been a huge problem. Alfred Collins can push the pile in pass rush, but then also essentially never misses tackles, ever. Collins has been getting some day two buzz in recent weeks and for good reason. If he finishes strong in the College Football Playoff he might go even earlier than this. – Travis May

When you think of disruptive, you'll think of Collins after seeing him on the field for the Longhorns. He had a really good 2024 season that will springboard him into the day two discussion.

Adding to the defensive line is a must this offseason for New Orleans, and Collins would be a nice piece alongside Bryan Bresee for the foreseeable future.

All in all, the Saints had a clear focus on taking impressive talent from top-flight CFB schools in this mock draft. That may have been coincidence, but it also made for a productive start to the class for the black and gold.
