There are only a couple teams riding as long of a win streak exiting the regular season than the Cincinnati Bengals. Winning five straight games heading into a potential postseason berth makes the Bengals peaking at the right time as one of the hottest teams in the league.

Head coach Zac Taylor said as much Saturday night after his team kept the door open for a surprise playoff appearance.

"They are not going to want us in this tournament," Taylor told reporters after his Bengals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I promise you that."

Former Kansas City Chiefs right tackle Mitchell Schwartz took great exception to that statement, and he's as right as much as he looks frightened for his former team.

Mitchell Schwartz takes a shot at Zac Taylor

The Bengals barely beat the Steelers on Saturday night to keep their season alive for at least one more afternoon. They scored just six points in the second half and gave the Steelers the ball back with just two minutes remaining and a two-score lead.

Schwartz made sure to point this out among other things on X/Twitter, citing them as reasons for why Taylor's postgame quote is wrong.

Again, he's not entirely wrong here. The Bengals made unforced errors in a must-win game and barely got out of Acrisure Stadium alive, one of them via their franchise quarterback after he took a hard fall. Even last week, they very easily could've lost to the Denver Broncos at home thanks to more critical mistakes. They squeaked out a 30-24 overtime win instead.

The Bengals have not been a dominant wrecking ball in the last two weeks despite winning, so Schwartz deserves credit for shedding light on that.

With all that said, the Bengals are the only team that's handed the Chiefs a loss in the playoffs over the past three years. Schwartz wasn't a part of the Chiefs at that point, but anyone associated with them claiming he isn't scared of the Bengals looks incredibly funny.

One of my favorite dril tweets is the classic "please dont put in the newspaper that i got mad." Absolute banger. This is basically that tweet if you replace "mad" with "scared."

Schwartz alluding to the fact that he's not scared, and even pointing out logical reasons as to why he's not scared, does not do enough to hide the fact that the Chiefs should objectively prefer the Denver Broncos or Miami Dolphins to make the postseason over the Bengals. Neither of those teams have Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Trey Hendrickson playing phenomenal football all at the right time, despite the shortcomings of the rest of the roster.

All four players have been a part of most past meetings with the Chiefs since the 2021 season. All of them know what it takes to beat them when it counts. The Chiefs may've won the past two Super Bowls, but they could've added a third if it weren't for the Orange and Black.

Consider it the right message from the wrong messenger. Instead of an effective post, it's just funny instead. Oh well!
