The level of optimism surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers is at an all-time low.

After losing four straight, the team is limping into the postseason.

But following the Los Angeles Chargers win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, the team's first-round opponent is one they have a lot of history with:

Steelers Traveling To Baltimore For Super Wildcard Weekend

Now, I know what you're thinking. Why would the Pittsburgh Steelers want to travel to take on a red-hot Ravens team, who beat them in their most recent contest, and looks like one of the best teams in the AFC, if not the entire league?

Simple, history.

Lamar Jackson may very well be on his way to his second consecutive, and third overall MVP award. But for as great as he's been in the regular season, he's struggled on the biggest stage.

Not to mention, even after beating the Steelers a few weeks ago, Jackson has a losing record (3-5) against the Steelers, and no team does a better job of containing him than Pittsburgh.

Baltimore has also lost eight, yes eight of the last 10 matchups against the Steelers, and no matter how bad either team looks, the game usually comes within a bounce of the ball to determine the winner.

Even in the 34-17 win that Baltimore had most recently over the Steelers, if not for two ill-advised turnovers from QB Russell Wilson, that game ends a lot closer. And sure, Russell Wilson hasn't enthused a lot of confidence over the last four games.

But who knows if he's still the starter come Wild Card weekend given his recent stretch of games. Justin Fields is rearing to go, and while it may seem late to make a change, everyone in Pittsburgh, including Russell Wilson, thinks a brand new season has begun:

"I really…I don't really have a… I think what I want to say is…I don't really want to talk about the past just because I think, we've been in that," said Wilson after Saturday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. "We've been in that for a little bit here. I think the best thing we can do is get ready for the playoffs. It's a new season. That's the only thing that really matters anymore at this point, right? The reality is, obviously us winning that game would have helped us in some form or fashion, but, at the end of the day, we got into the playoffs, everybody's got to beat everybody anyway, and that's got to be our focus right now."
