Seahawks' success in year one under Macdonald
Seattle got a bit unlucky to finish this season in year one under head coach Mike Macdonald. The Seahawks won ten games. Impressive.
The problem?
The NFC was incredibly loaded at the top of the conference. Accordingly, double digit wins from Seattle did not land them a playoff spot. Instead, they're on the outside looking in after grabbing the second place spot in the NFC West behind the Los Angeles Rams.
Fifteen NFL teams won ten or more games this season. The Seahawks are the only one to miss the postseason.
On both sides of the football, Seattle made strides from a season ago. Honestly, they improved from the first half of this season to the second half, too.
The defense really caught their stride, and players on offense like A.J. Barner and Jaxon Smith-Njigba stepped up. The latter is arguably a top ten wide receiver in football for the future.
Meanwhile, Macdonald's biggest focus, the defense, began to grow. Byron Murphy became a key piece as a rookie upfront and notably improved the run defense for Seattle.
All in all, the end to the season is unfortunate for the Seahawks because they won't get a chance to make a playoff run, but the future looks awfully bright for their young head coach and his roster.

They currently have a 9-7 record and one game remaining to try to pick up their tenth win. Rookie head coach Mike Macdonald had a successful […]
