A former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman was fired from his job as an NFL position coach on Monday as multiple NFL franchises made major changes.

The Cincinnati Bengals fired defensive line coach Marion Hobby, along with several other assistant coaches, on Monday morning.

Hobby, who had served as the Bengals' defensive line coach since 2021, played at Tennessee under Johnny Majors. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round of the 1990 NFL Draft.

Hobby, who was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Tennessee in 1998, spent several years in the college ranks as an assistant coach under former Vols offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe. The former Tennessee defender was Cutcliffe's defensive line coach at Ole Miss from 1999 to 2004. Hobby later served as Cutcliffe's defensive coordinator/defensive line coach at Duke from 2008 to 2010.

The former Vol also spent time at Clemson as a co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach under Dabo Swinney. Hobby made the jump to the NFL in 2017.

Oklahoma could be a landing spot to watch for Hobby as he spent five seasons working alongside current Sooners head coach Brent Venables at Clemson.
