The Indianapolis Colts made the unpopular decision to bring back general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen for the upcoming season.

Though they are returning their top two decision-makers, it looks like they are at risk of losing Ballard's right-hand man to a divisional rival.

Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds named a finalist for the Titans GM job

The Colts AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans, are in the middle of their search h to hire the franchise's next general manager. They finished their first round of interviews and have now announced six finalists, moving on to round two. One of which is Colts' assistant general manager Ed Dodds.

Dodds joined the Colts in 2017 as Ballard's right-hand man in Indianapolis. He has spent the last eight years with the team in that same role. Before joining the Colts, he spent a decade with the Seattle Seahawks from 2007 to 2016 as a senior personnel executive. Dodds has had a significant hand in the team's draft strategies and has been a lead voice in trade negotiations over the years.

This isn't the first time Dodds has been considered a serious candidate to take over his own team. He's been in the mix for the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders jobs in recent years. So this feels like just another offseason for the Colts as they wait to see if this will be the year they finally lose Dodds, something they've been expecting for quite some time. I'm sure they were hoping it wouldn't be to a divisional rival, but the team knows how long he's had to wait for this, so I'm sure they would be happy for him either way.
