The NFL tends to be pretty unpredictable when it comes to international games and who plays in them. For multiple reasons, it seemed like the Detroit Lions would be a lock to play in Berlin, Germany, in 2025, but they will not be.

The NFL announced on Wednesday morning that the Indianapolis Colts will be the hosting team in Berlin in 2025. The Lions do not play the Colts in 2025.

It made a lot of sense that the Lions would be there, especially with Amon-Ra St. Brown being fluent in German and such a popular player there. Instead, they'll not go, and I think a lot of Lions fans might be happy not to have to get up early in the morning for that one.

Don't get too comfortable just yet. Right now it's clear the Lions aren't going to Germany or England, but Brazil and Spain are still on the table. There are rumors the NFL could be going to Mexico, Australia, or France as well.

The NFL plans to play seven international games in 2025 and so far they've only got four of them figured out. We'll see what happens over the course of the offseason, but be on guard.
