Pros:
- Ball tracking
Brooks excels at locating and tracking the football down the field. It wouldn't be shocking to find out that Brooks has baseball, and more specifically an outfield, background. He clearly understands how to adjust his path and make a ton of plays down the field.
- Deceptive speed
While Brooks may not run the fastest forty-yard dash time, he plays at a much higher speed. It doesn't always look like Brooks is moving overly fast, but that is because of his long strides. Brooks can chew up grass in a hurry.
- Body control
Once Brooks has located the football in the air, he has tremendous body control to contort his body and adjust to make some spectacular catches. This skill is especially put on display near the sideline.
Cons:
- Up and down production
Even dating back to his time at Alabama, Brooks has really struggled with consistency. That goes from season to season, and even game to game. For whatever reason, he just has stretches of disappearing in games.
- Choreographed routes
Brooks is a little high-cut, which affects his ability to get in and out of breaks consistently. It also doesn't help that Brooks can choreograph his routes at times. It makes him a very predictable route runner with way too many tells.
- Thinner frame
Brooks has a clean frame, but it still lacks mass, which shows up with his lack of play strength. He is mostly going to play on the outside on the next level and his physicality will be put to the test. Brooks would do well in continuing to add good weight to his frame.
Player Evaluation:
While the 2025 NFL Draft wide receiver class isn't the most exciting, there are plenty of solid pass catchers who can occupy important roles on the next level. That includes Brooks who is the modern Z receiver, possessing enough fluidity, ball skills, and vertical impact to line up all over the field. That versatility provides a strong floor on the next level.
With inconsistent production and below average play strength, there are some limitations to Brooks' game in terms of upside. While he may never be the top receiver in a room, his talents should allow him to at least be a solid third or fourth wide receiver, and offer an inviting target to a prospective quarterback.
Player Comparison:
Romeo Doubs (Green Bay Packers)
Like Doubs, Brooks is a very smooth player who has some alignment versatility to him. There isn't necessarily any one trait about him that stands out but he does a little bit of everything well. Brooks projects as an important member of a wide receiver room on the next level, most likely as a versatile Z.
A to Z Rankings:
A to Z Big Board Ranking: #66 overall, #10 wide receiver
A to Z Draft Grade: 7.45
Draft projection: Fourth-Fifth round
