Ohio State recently lost OC Chip Kelly to the NFL and on the other side of the ball, they lost Jim Knowles. Coaching departures can be used negatively against you in recruiting, it is a part of the game, unfortunately.
After his breakout freshman season, Jeremiah Smith was the talk of teams trying to tamper and take him away from Ohio State. Since then, the portal has been closed and Smith is good where he is at in Columbus.
There is one major college football program that you can check off of him ever thinking about playing for, even if he ever did opt to leave the Buckeyes.
Smith shut down the idea of transferring to Miami for a large NIL deal and included a laughing emoji. Miami has been known to offer big NIL packages to land top talent, or at least try to. Last year, the Canes were able to add Cam Ward, who just may be the No. 1 pick in a couple of months. Miami is also not far from where Smith is from in South Florida.
As a freshman, Smith had 1,315 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Already a player who looks like the best at his position in college, he still has to play two more years before the NFL and that is scary. The star wideout had four touchdowns in Ohio State’s College Football Playoff run alone.
Ohio State is in a good place with Smith and have no worries of him transferring. Just like when he committed to playing in Columbus, the future NFL star has stayed solid.

Ohio State with a big add.
