The Philadelphia Eagles clinched a Super Bowl with a massive 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game, but not everything is perfect in life.

Right after the game was over, NFL Network's insider Ian Rapoport reported that Eagles offensive coordinator will have an in-person interview with the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are the last team still looking for a head coach. Former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is perceived as a favorite to land the job, but Kellen Moore is younger—which could potentially align with what the Saints should expect from their roster-building process over the next couple of seasons. Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator dropped out of the search and will stay in Buffalo.

Process

Kellen Moore had already a first virtual interview with the Saints on Saturday before the divisional round game. Now, finalists have a bye week before the Super Bowl, so assistant coaches will have some free time to make interviews.

The Eagles have handled coaching staff turnover over the last few seasons. After a successful year in 2022, Philly lost Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon to head coaching Jobs. They hired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai as the replacement options, but it backfired—Matt Patricia finished last season calling defensive plays.

In 2024, both coordinator hires were major hits. Kellen Moore became a head coaching candidate, and Vic Fangio offers more stability as a veteran former head coach.

A former NFL quarterback, Moore started his coaching career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2018. After spending a season as the quarterbacks coach, he was quickly promoted to offensive coordinator. Before moving to the Eagles, Moore spent a season with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition to the Saints, Kellen Moore also interviewed for the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars' jobs, but these vacancies were respectively filled by Brian Schottenheimer and Liam Coen.

Especially knowing how hard it is to replace good coordinators, head coach Nick Sirianni is certainly hoping that Moore sticks around for another year.
