Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt just finished the story of a book he left unwritten

There were so many different moments of uncertainty this season for the Kansas City Chiefs—not unknown in that we didn't know if they would make the playoffs or not, but unknown in that they constantly had injuries, and we weren't sure what would be next for that position. For example, the wide receiver position when Rashee Rice was hurt against the Los Angeles Chargers. They ended up trading for DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans.
There's also when Isaiah Pacheco got hurt, and the Chiefs didn't feel comfortable going that long without a starting-caliber running back. So, they went and got a familiar face in Kareem Hunt, a player they drafted back in 2017 in the third round. His last team was the Cleveland Browns, where he shared snaps with Nick Chubb before Chubb got hurt left and right.
The Chiefs picked him up, and they ran him until he couldn't run anymore. They ran the ball a lot, but Hunt was fine with that, and he handled it extremely well. He was the bell cow back, and the Chiefs rode him till Pacheco came back, where they then had a two-running back tandem.
But, it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows for Hunt. He was kicked off of the team during his first run in Kansas City for some things that happened off of the field that he has since made known that he is beyond regretful about. The Chiefs brought him in with a second chance, and now he is headed to the AFC championship.
"I feel blessed," Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt said. "This feels like a dream come true again. I left a lot unsolved before. I'm happy to be able to write the rest of the story."
The Chiefs needed him to come through, and even on Saturday, he did, despite what the stat sheet says. He had a few big-time third-down conversions and really helped put the Texans away. And in the playoffs, you have to be able to run the ball well, especially when you're up.
If the Chiefs end up winning the Super Bowl, Kareem Hunt will get more than what he deserves with his first-ever ring. It was a long time coming, but he's so close to finishing a story for a book he left unwritten.
