Harris joined the program in 2019 under former coach Tom Herman. Harris has been in a recruiting and support staff role throughout his tenure with the Longhorns.

Sarkisian has the final say on all recruiting matters, and the coach has talked extensively over the years about how the coaching have their own grading system to gauge a recruit’s talent.

Harris’ primary role is to help assemble the recruiting classes, and he deals directly with recruits and players when the staff decides how much to pay in name, image and likeness deals. When players want a bump in NIL pay, they approach Harris, who works in close conjunction with Patrick “Wheels” Smith, the president of the Texas One Fund.

Harris played quarterback at LSU and North Carolina from 2014-17 before getting into an administrative role.

“I wanted to make sure I had somebody in that role that I was connected to on another level. And I think my time with Brandon has allowed me to do that,” Sarkisian said after the 2023 season.

"I think he thinks a lot like me, which is important. I think he's a rockstar in our profession, and he's gonna be in high-level roles for a long time."
