NASHVILLE – Newly hired Tennessee Titans GM Mike Borgonzi has an impressive background with the Kansas City Chiefs. It's a big reason why Borgonzi was the top candidate in NFL circles this offseason for an open GM job.

From 2009-2025, Borgonzi climbed the ladder of the Chiefs' organization. In more recent years, he has held almost every important position in the front office.

According to a note from SI.com's Albert Breer, Brogonzi was "in a small decision-making circle in Kansas City with GM Brett Veach, coach Andy Reid, and SVP of football operations/strategy Chris Shea. So every decision made over the past eight seasons in Kansas City had his fingerprints on it."

As the Chiefs have been building a dynasty, Borgonzi has been heavily involved. Since we know the Titans are looking for a "super scout" and elite talent evaluator, let's take a look at Borgonzi's draft history with the Chiefs over the last eight seasons and what Tennessee is getting from their new GM.

2024 – B

It's far too early to tell on the Chiefs' 2024 draft class. But this group is highlighted by 28th overall pick Xavier Worthy. Worthy was Kansas City's most targeted wide receiver this season and only got better as the season went on.

S Jaden Hicks was selected in the 4th round and had 3 interceptions while playing only 31 percent of the defensive snaps this season. Kingsley Suamataia could have a promising future at tackle.

2023 – B-

Kansas City did not find a star in the 2023 draft, but they did get four impact players that have contributed significantly over the last two seasons.

Felix Anudike-Uzomah is a rotational edge defender. Rashee Rice was a contender for offensive rookie of the year in 2023. Wanya Morris started 11 games on the offensive line this season. Chamarri Conner has made 16 starts in the secondary over the last two seasons and has 3 career INTs.

Nothing to write home about in this group, but no early round misses either. There's also still time for development.

2022 – A+

The Chiefs had 10 total draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and they hit it out of the park. Trent McDuffie is an All-Pro cornerback and George Karlaftis has 24.5 sacks in three NFL seasons.

Bryan Cook and Leo Chenal are valuable starters on a powerhouse defense. That same group that has carried the Chiefs in 2024 has also gotten contributions from Joshua Williams and Jaylen Watson – Both were Day 3 draft picks in 2022.

Then there's Isiah Pacheco, who has been the primary running back and playoff hero when healthy.

2021 – A

The Chiefs only had six selections in the 2021 draft and did not have a 1st round pick. That didn't stop them from finding four impact players.

Nick Bolton has 458 tackles in 4 NFL seasons and has become a centerpiece of the Chiefs' defense. Creed Humphrey might be the best center in the league, earning three Pro Bowl selections and being named a First Team All-Pro in 2024.

Trey Smith has also entered the conversation for being one of the best interior offensive linemen in the sport. His gritty play has helped KC protect Patrick Mahomes and earned the former Tennessee Volunteer a Pro Bowl selection in 2024.

While blocked by Travis Kelce, Noah Gray has also been a key contributor on offense when targeted as the second tight end.

2020 – C+

Missing on Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the 1st round of the 2020 draft really brings down the cumulative grade of this group.

Willie Gay Jr. was a decent 2nd round pick for the Chiefs, but the real value of the class comes in the late rounds when Kansas City found L'Jarius Sneed at No. 138 and Michael Danna at No. 177.

Danna has a respectable 20.5 career sacks for a 5th round selection while Sneed quickly elevated his game to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. It earned him a large contract with the Tennessee Titans after being traded in 2024.

2019 – C

The 2019 draft class is another one that is particularly hard to judge because Kansas City's first pick in the  draft came at No. 56. Some of the better players from this class have only improved since getting more opportunities to play with other teams, but had minimal impact while in a Chiefs uniform.

Mecole Hardman was never a 1,000-yard receiver or a game changer on offense. But he has been contributing for six seasons and caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII.

S Juan Thornhill, DT Khalen Saunders, and G Nick Allegretti have all out-performed their draft placement, but it has taken a second NFL stop for them to become legitimate starters.

2018 – D

Not a good class whatsoever. I'm sure the Chiefs would like to have the 2018 Draft back.

Derrick Nnadi started on the defensive interior for six seasons in KC before moving to a lesser role in 2024. Overall, that was a really strong pick at 75th overall, but Nnadi is the only player from this group to pan out.

Breeland Speaks was a big miss in the 2nd round. He only played 16 career games and they call came during his rookie season.

2017 – A++

Patrick Mahomes at 10th overall. The pick that changed everything.

Kareem Hunt being in this class was another good mark for KC, but this year was all about Mahomes. Even without any other contributors of notes int he later rounds, the 2017 NFL Draft was the day the Chiefs' dynasty was born.
