Actions speak louder than words, and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders' actions suggest the Dallas Cowboys aren't in his future quite yet. Despite rumors swirling that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be interested in hiring his former star cornerback to be the franchise's next head coach, Coach Prime is looking to add to his staff.
According to Brian Howell, Sanders, who has Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp on his coaching staff in Boulder, is considering bringing Marshall Faulk on board as well.
Faulk, the explosive former Rams running back, was among the NFL's elite players for more than a decade, from 1994 to 2005. Although he lacks coaching experience, he was a two-time All-American at San Diego State, where he accumulated over 4,500 rushing yards in just three seasons with the Aztecs.
A highly accomplished athlete, Faulk was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1992 and finished fourth the following year before being selected as the second overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft.
By 1999, he had earned his first NFL Offensive Player of the Year award and went on to win it again in the next two seasons, also claiming the NFL MVP title in 2000. He is one of only three players in NFL history to achieve both 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in the same season.
Since 2018, Faulk has been involved in the financial sector, working with a financial education and services company (WealthWave), an endeavor that aligns with Prime’s commitment to educating every player on his roster about financial matters.
In Boulder, Faulk would take over the role previously held by Gary Harrell, who is no longer part of the staff.
Sanders and Faulk were inducted into the Hall of Fame together in 2011, and Faulk had also been linked to head coaching positions at HBCU schools, such as Southern (FCS – LA) in 2021.
