The Detroit Lions are in the midst of gearing up for the offseason faster than anyone wanted them to. That means it's time for futures deals. On Monday the Lions signed 11 players to deals and that continues today. The Lions are signing Ronnie Bell to a futures deal.

Lions fans probably remember Bell from his time being a receiver for Michigan for three years. He was a pretty decent one too. He had All-Big Ten third-team honors in 2022. He caught 62 passes for 889 yards and four touchdowns that season.

Bell declared for the 2023 NFL Draft after that season and the Lions were in on him during the pre-draft process. The Lions went to his Pro-Day and had a meeting there and then had him in for their local Pro-day as well.

The Lions may have wanted to draft him late in the draft, but they ultimately went with Antione Green earlier in the seventh-round. Bell fell to the 49ers.

Bell has spent the last two seasons on and off the 49ers practice squad and he's logged 26 regular season games. Purdy didn't throw his way a ton. He had 19 targets, eight catches, 90 yards, and three touchdowns in San Francisco.

We'll see what Bell can do in Detroit, but it is notable that the Lions struggled at receiver during camp in August and this could be the first sign of Detroit trying to get ahead of that position as they look to build out their offense for whoever comes in to replace Ben Johnson.
