Ohio State woke up National Champions once again today.
The road was never easy by any means and it took a gauntlet of a road traveled to get it done. Beating Notre Dame for the National Championship topped off a great four-game run for the Buckeyes.
It didn’t always look like this was going to be the case. Ohio State’s 13-10 loss to Michigan on Nov. 30 felt like it could be it for a short time, but the Buckeyes found a way to answer in the biggest way.
“We had an awful day. I don’t know how else to describe it,” Ryan Day said of that loss to Michigan.
As far as how the Buckeyes came together, that is a story that will be told forever. Day revealed that the team being out of school helped them.
“Our team has come together so well over the last month and a half. There wasn’t school, so all we did was spend time together. It’s like being around a family. This is the tightest group of guys I’ve ever been around before. To think we’re not going to be together again. I’m not looking forward to that. I’m going to miss these guys. They’re great people,” Day stated via Eleven Warriors.
Quite a few planes returned to Columbus to get the job done. Emeka Egbuka, Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Tyleik Williams, and Lathan Ransom were among the players who could have gone to the NFL last year. They will head off to the NFL now with some extra hardware. The biggest goal for the Buckeyes was always to win a National Championship.
Getting the job done after losing to what was a below-average Michigan team makes this job even more impressive that Ohio State completed. Beating Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame after that gut punch of a loss will be remembered.
