Ohio State’s National Championship win over Notre Dame marked the second straight title that the Big Ten has taken home in college football.

The Buckeyes put together a strong run over the last four games after losing their final regular season game against Michigan. Ohio State cleared Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and then the Fighting Irish on this College Football Playoff run.

Ohio State getting it done a year after Michigan is an interesting storyline in college football. Following the two straight National Championship wins for the Big Ten, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has an interesting take on things.

"The Big Ten, at the moment, owns college football. And there's no way you can say it doesn't,” Finebaum said recently. “It's an uncomfortable feeling for the SEC, which has owned the sport. But it's a reality this morning."

Ohio State rebounded as well as any team you’ll ever see after they took that second loss to Michigan. Ohio State’s resume this season in college football may be the best ever. Wins over six of the top eight teams in the final College Football Playoff rankings stood out for the Buckeyes. The job that Day did in 2024 was special. 

Head coach Ryan Day put together quite the roster by keeping together a band of players that could have left after last season. Ohio State went out and got some transfer portal additions like Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins, and Will Howard. The Buckeyes fell to Michigan for a fourth straight time but still found a way to accomplish their big goal. 

Ohio State will again be a team that contends next season and the Big Ten will be looking to make it three straight National Championships.
